Haunter #039

Halloween is approaching so I would like to introduce you this ghost-type that's going to settle down in the shadows of this blog.

This amigurumi was made as a birthday gift. Originally I asked for the gift receiver's favorite Pokémons and got ideas for ones such as Haunter and Absol, of which I promised to make the latter one.

In the yarn store, however, I happened to run into this lovely cotton-viscose yarn that was simply perfect for Haunter.

The yarn in question is called 'DROPS cotton viscose' and its surface shines in this wonderfully eerie way that is hard to explain. The yarn is pretty slippery, therefore making the crocheting more challenging.

The rest of the parts of the amigurumi that was made into a key fob, are made of cotton yarn. The hardest part in the amigurumi was probably trying to come up with ideas on how I could get its hands to float in the air in a typical way for the character. I solved the problem with glass pearls and fish line. The pearls are difficult to spot when looking from afar.
