Mawile #303
"Mawile's huge jaws are actually steel horns that have been transformed. Its docile-looking face serves to lull its foe into letting down its guard. When the foe least expects it, Mawile's chomps it with its gaping jaws"
Pokémon Ruby Pokédex
This Pokémon turned out just right *u* Mawile was a custom order from one of my friends to whom I also made the Spheal amigurumi. ...but it seriously was a load of work. This amigurumi has 45 parts crocheted and then sewn together. The teeth especially were challenging because they had to be exactly the same size. I also came up with the idea of making a sharp writhing tongue between the jaws. I think it fits perfectly and in my opinion you can't tell from looking at the original artwork whether there should be a tongue or not.
Yarns used in this Pokémon were light yellow baby merino, red, black, and white cotton thread, as well as graphite and rose woolen yarn. The materials used were different but the colors are perfect. :)

ReplyDeleteLove the pokemon. Is the pattern available?
ReplyDeleteHi! Sorry for the late answer. I didn't use any pattern while crocheting this amigurumi. It's all freehanded :')
